My wife & I have a 1979/27' Cherubini design Hunter. We think she is really a sailing machine. My wife asked me a question the other day which I didn't have the answer. What makes a Cherubini design Hunter different from any other Hunter of the same year? We really would like to be educated. Randy

Were there any?

Hi Randy, Were there any non-Cherubini's in 1979? They all appear to have the same traditional look. 'All' would be the 25, 27, 30, 33, and 37C. The 25(1973) and 30(1974) might pre-date Cherubini and the design probably didn't change. The 36(1980) and 54(1980) are almost definitely Cherubini's even though the 54 had a big scoop transom. The question for me is, how do you look at one of these classics and see the Cherubini design? It's easy to tell them from the newer Hunters but most builders still use more traditional lines. Cherubini's, I think, always had a deep cockpit with high coamings so you wouldn't find a cabin under the helm. They also didn't have the wide rear end that is so common now. Did all the 70's boats use the bridgedeck for the traveler? What else exactly?

27's

The 27 is one of the best small cruisers around any where, bar none.

H27 traveler placement

My 1978 H27 has the traveler located in the cockpit just behind the tiller(bolted through to each seat on a teak bridge which runs above the front lip of the "ice chest"). Cherubinui designs are easily recognized as they all look similar regardless of size. See the Cherubini Designs forum on this site for references to drawings and photos of some fine examples.

Many Versions

I wonder how we can determine how many versions of the H27 1979 there were. I note that wheel and tiller diference along with main sheet attachment. In additon there are differences in interior (mine is different from factory pictures even) and main cabin windows are even different. I've had the boat for 17 years so its not like someone made changes after it was built.
