Joe,

Did you mean Jim Hunt? C. Ray Hunt had died by 1986, but his son, Jim Hunt and Olympic sailor was President of O'Day and Bangor Punta.

I believe Jim Hunt still lives in Mass? Maybe you can find out for sure for us later day O'Day fans.

John Deknatel, NA, drew the plans for the O'Day 25 that I saw. Although he is listed as President of Hunt Associates, NA, all I got from an inquiry was a very short reply. Maybe somebody local could interview him for historical perspectives.

Quinn Sayles at Mystic Seaport, Ships plans department, was my email contact. When the Department is open you can also call her. [collections@mysticseaport.org]

Let us know what you find.

Ed,
I'm not sure if his name was Jim or C. Howard. It was so long ago. The guy that introduced me to him was Chuck Resnevic, who was a Foreman in the plant. Chuck took me on two separate tours of the plant, and later when O'Day closed their doors, I would run into Chuck at the Newport Boat Shows. Chuck went out on his own, like Rudy Nickerson did. I don't even think that I had met Rudy yet. When Chuck introduced me to this fellow, he told me that this guy was a boat designer. Half the time, when I get introduced to people, I forget their names before I even finish talking to them. I thought his name was E. Howard Hunt, but like I said, I'm not too good when it comes to remembering names. I'll check with Rudy and ask him about a Jim Hunt. Maybe he knows if this guy is still around. Myself and two of my fellow club members took a tour of the Marshall Catboat factory a few months ago in So. Dartmouth Ma. http://www.marshallcat.com/ Cat boats are OK, but I'll stick with my little O'Day 222 sloop.
