I have a CDI Drum furling on my 27. The tack of the jib attaches to the top of the drum via a cord that runs through the sail grommeet to a shackel attached to the drum. When raising and attaching the jib I have the darndest timer getting and maintaining the proper amount of tension. Does anyone have a suggestion for a mechinical solution to attaching the tack to the drum? Snap shackle?

Thanks,

Gerard

The "cord" is called a pendant

and instead of having one with a defined length, make it adjustable but replacing the single cord with a longer line with a couple of loops in it, so you can adjust it and pull it to tighten the jib's luff. If you replace the shackle with a D ring and run the pendant through the tack clew, then you tighten it up and tie simple knot to keep it snug during the sail. Loosen it up at the end of the sail instead of relaxing the halyard tension. We find that easier.
