Jib Sheet Slide on track

I own a 1991 ODay 17 foot Daysailor. The Jib Sheet cam cleat is attached to a base called a slide on track that I have to replace. I tried Cape Cod Shipbuiding and also D and I Marine in New England. Neither place was able to help me. Any suggestions as to where I can get the part or ways that I might resolve my dilemma.

Rod Johnson,

D&R didn't have it?

I'm VERY surprised that Rudy wouldn't have the parts! What exactly is in need of replacement? The track (at least on my 1979 DS II) is just a 12" piece of stainless-steel sailtrack. Now, the next thing to consider, is that the 1991 DS III was actually built by PEARSON YACHTS, not O'DAY, Pearson bought out the remnants of O'Day in 1989 and began to build a few of the O'Day models as "O'DAY" sailboats, but they did make a few minor changes from the original O'Days. PEARSON went out of business in Feb. 1991, their Small-Boat-Division continued for another year (or so, maybe less?) before becoming "SUNFISH-LASER, Inc.". The last DS III was built before this change.

Rudy told me the same thing you did about Pearson making my boat and then going out of business. The part I need isn't the track itself but the part that sits in the track. The padeye and the cam cleat sit on a base piece that has two flat pieces of metal about a half inch wide under it that slide along the track. I moght be able to repair it but I dont think I'll be able to slide it along the track since the pin that locks in is broken. I guess that will have to do. Thanks

Rod Johnson,

Try Vanguard Sailboats?

Maybe Vanguard Sailboats could help, they are the new company (well, new name) that builds the boats formerly built by Sunfish-Laser, which was the company that used to be called Pearson Small Boats Div. I'm not sure if they would still have any of the parts used for the DS III, but it is certainly worth a call. I've included a link.

Thanks, Rod

Thanks for the information on Vanguard. I sent them an email. Maybe I'll have some luck. John
