Jib Sheet Rigging Question

I need help determining how to run my jib sheets to my cockpit. My Oday 25 has a goofy setup and I am not sure exactly how to utilize what I have. I know that there is no "standard" rigging but I would like to know how other people have setup of their sheets. I am really looking for pictures if anybody has any of their rigging. Any pictures would be helpful, even if the rigging is in the background of the picture.

The goofy setup that I am talking about is I have blocks on either side of the deck a couple feet forward of the cockpit. From there I have winches on the forward end of my cockpit with cleats just behind them. The goofy part is this; I have block pulleys coming off of the outside side of the cockpit just aft of the winches. I think the previous owner ran the jib sheet to the block aft the winch and then forward to the winch. This seems goofy to me. I am probably wrong but would like to understand this before the upcoming season.

Thanks for the help

The two blocks forward of the cockpit are for the 100% jib that came standard from O'Day and the blocks on the track are for the larger headsails.

Thank you for the quick replies the information and picture have been very helpful. In the picture, is the forward part of the sheet ran through the front block or anything else before entering the aft block? I have a through hole line guide attached to a life line post just forward of the cockpit, is that what I use to run the sheet back?

Thanks again

I have a problem similar regarding the rigging setup: On the starboard. The genoa sheet runs from the block on the genoa tracks, which is aft of the winch, to the winch then to the cleat. The problem: the sheet crosses itself going from the winch back to the cleat, requiring downward pressue and two hands to cleat the sheet on the starboard side. If u have this problem, then what I say makes sense. If u do, how have u solved it?

Keith, I know what you're talking about. It's a bit of a problem but I can live with it.

It depends also on how far back the genoa block is.

RB;
I noticed you have winches on the cabin top. I have a couple I'm thinking of putting there and running the main/jib halyards back to the cockpit using turning blocks, rope clutches, and the winch(es). Do you have any pictures or hints on how to best do this?

Here's what I have-

I used a quad turning block so I could add more lines later. The setup worked very well this past season. O'day didn't give us much room to work with.

So, you have lines to raise and to lower the sails? You have tweeked my interest. What other lines would you add, and if so, where would you put those locking cleat thing a majiggers you have at the aft end of your halyards?

Lower? Nah, I don't have any downhauls. Yet. The sails have been coming down pretty good by themselves.
I'd like to bring the cunningham back to the cockpit. There's enough room on the starboard side aport of the main halyard.

For more lines, I've got some 4" aluminum channel that I could mount over the halyards just forward of the clutches. A couple of clam cleats would fit on top of the channel. For 2012 I hope to have my reefs lines run internally in the boom. I might bring them back to the cockpit. We'll see.
This spring I'm looking to upgrade to a main sheet traveler. #2734

The stopper and pin setup on it now is almost worthless.

I have the stopper pins on my traveler and I agree with you. They're not that great. I've noticed that some travelers have stopper pins that screw into the track and some are the spring type like mine, which aren't too much of a pain. Some day when I get some extra cash I'm going to spring for a new Garhauer or a Harken traveler.
