Jib sheet leads

In keeping with my objective of making my small boat as much like a big boat as possible, thereby saving untold thousands of dollars, my latest ambition is to add adjustable jib sheet leads (which this boat needs desperately). I would really appreciate advice, tips, and lessons learned on hardware selection and installation methods from those of you who have completed this project successfully on an H26 (mine is a '96). Thank you--

Thanks, I have it

and gave it considerable thought. I am sure it works well. The downwind sheeting arrangement is great, I definitely plan to try that. But I must admit I have concerns about using the lifeline stanchions in a way they were not intended. Any opinions concerning whether the stanchion bases are secure enough to take this kind of treatment?

Susan, When I tried the jib block attachment on

the lifeline stansion base it was only to assess the performance of the forward position. There is NO WAY it should be rigged in this manor for more than testing purposes. I also used these portable block assemblies to test different rigging methods for running and reaching. You will be truly suprised with the outragious improvement in boat performance, handling and speed these simple changes made. I hope that all the readers of this forum understand that all the ideas I try are tests only!!! If the test proves out positively then I add the correct gear to make a perminate change. Using this method I can try many different ideas for little money and the test gear also makes for great back-up if I suffer an equipment failure. I would love for all the people sailing water ballast boats to exchange new tricks. If others that might not have the ability to test new ideas would share these ideas, then some of us that can will test their ideas and report back. I truly love to play but cost does limit my ball field. By using hardware store stuff then my failures are cheaper. On the reverse side, my successes can be refined until I find the perfect location to mount that expensive "West Marine" final answer to my problem. I really like your input on this site as I find myself rethinking about how I posted an answer to a question, and the questions the answer asked. Ray S/V Speedy
