Hunter 216 Amity Harbor
Hello All, I am looking for a used Hunter 216 roller furling jib to purchase.
It does not have to be in perfect condition.
If anyone has one I would be interested. Lost mine in a gale recently.
I am in the Long Island area of New York
Thank you.
Andrew

Hi Andrew. Good to see you back on the SBO forum.
Let us know your sailing experiences with the 216 Hunter you purchased.

Used sails are a mixed bag. You might try Bacon Sails on your side of the Mississippi.
Best to know the length of luff and foot to match your boat's sail design.

Thank you for the reference to Bacon Sails. Who would thunk bacon and sails! I went on to the classifieds on this site. I did not see any sails. As I am new to Sailboat Owners, I'm not sure where the other places there are to look if Crazy Dave can direct me. BTW, if there is any test place for breaking a boat, I am living in it. Lot's of wind all of the time and significant gusts and wind shifts and the Hunter 216 is generally over canvassed for windward. I can also assure anyone who cares, that it is nearly impossible to turn this boat over. We shall see... Andrew

I used to patronize Sailer’s Choice in Amityville. Had very good experiences with Jim, the owner. They are affiliated with Neil Pride. He might be able to find a sail for the OP. If the OP is going to sail a business relationship with this loft would be an asset. I know several sailers from the North Fork who drive there for their sail needs. And their canvas work.

I did find Jim and his son. Great folks. I had heard of them before but hard to find if you have not before. Yes, you have to go there in person:) I'm going with a fix because he can get it done. It won't be pretty, but will work. Bacon Sails were great and thorough and detailed. If the repair does not last long I will be getting in touch with them. Good tip. It definitely pays to look at the forecast in multiple ways. Being hit by a front in shallows is definitely not fun. My little Day Sail turned out to be an expensive Pay Sail! Wind meter on my dock read a peak 59mph gust that day when I got back. Thank you to everyone.
