Does anyone know who manufactured the jib furler used on the 1981 33? I can not find any markings on mine. Thanks, Michael

There is no real answer to your question. Hunter did not supply the furler. It was, and still is after market. Yours could have been installed by anyone at any time. If it was installed at or near time of purchase it is most likely an early CDI. Best Idea with an early CDI is to get as much for it as scrap as you can. CDI will sell you a new drum assembly to put onto the foil, but why would you spend that money on a foil that can't be repaired due to lack of availability of parts and is a piece of crap in the first place? Save yourself a lot of aggravation and install whatever furler you can get the best deal on at a show or wherever you can. Prety much all the furlers out there are good nowadays.

Still Wondering

Sam. Let it all go now. Don't hold back. ;^) I would get a photo of it but I have someone interested in purchasing it and will be taking it down tomorrow. (If I can get the @#$% jib down.) Anyway, I think it is a CDI and have printed a copy of their "Reefer Identification Guide" (that title reminds me of the 60s for some reason) and will attempt to inform the new owner what type of beast it is. Thanks everyone. And, by the way, my home port will be Rockport Texas next week. I have almost completed the refit and will be posting photos and specs on everything I've done to her very soon.

Are you moving...

because there is NO WATER in Lake Travis right now? Are you selling the furler or the boat? Rockport is a great area if you can get used to the hurricane factor...'course, if you have a trailer, you can get the h@## out of Dodge when you need to. Good luck down there.

Not a CDI

It does not appear to be a CDI and I am selling it. Got the jib down this morning with the help of a great boat technician/restorer by the name of Jeff Stevenson. As it turns out it came down easily and the furler seems to be in good shape. Jeff knows someone who is interested in buying it. I'm moving the boat primarily because I will be moving to Aransas Pass in a few months, my lease is up at Paradise Cove Marina and I need to do some work on her that requires being on the hard. Oh, and the lake is so low it isn't much fun sailing on it anymore.
