I want to add a pair of swivel cam cleats a couple inches behind the Teak steps on the side rails that are just aft of mid ship on both the Starboard and Port. Is there enough wood material backing under the fibre glass to fasten the cleat flange with lag screws instead of bolts and nuts, I don't think I can get to the underside of a bolt to tighten a nut. The boat is a 1994 Hunter 23.5

Don't knmow but Howdy anyway

Howdy from Calgary. I assume that you want to run the jib sheets further aft for single handing? Several of us with 23.5, 24, 26 and 260 have replaced the cabintop horn cleats with Spinlock PowerCleats. I can now work the jib sheets from anywhere in the cockpit. The replacement is simple in that there are no mods to the boat itself, and you can always put the horn cleats back. Search the archives (last year) for px and/or powercleats. If I've missed the boat, let us know what you're up to.
