jel coat cracks, any problem on 95-up c22?

I looked at several hunter 23.5 sailboats and all the ones I saw (1995-1999)had spider cracks on deck at stress points. So far I only saw 1 1996 catalina 22 and it had no cracks. Does anyone know if the 1995 and up c22's have this problem?Thanks,Don

Crazing

The older a boat gets, the more brittle the gelcoat gets. This is what causes crazing on many boats. Others may get impact crazing from dropping a winch handle, etc. Maybe the guy who laid up the gelcoat on the Hunters you say was having a bad day - seems like a fairly young boat to have a lot of crazing. Anyway, it's more common the older the boat is and isn't typically specific to one particular year.LaDonna
