Jeesh, $65 for an impeller??

..since my local Yanmar guy is almost impossible to reach, I figured I'd do my own maintenance. Impeller, fuel filters, coolant, oil and filter, etc. Also had a bad guage. Who'da thought that the impeller was the MOST expensive thing at $65 for the 4JH2E. I think my old 3GM30 was about $20. Am I the only one surprised? Must be a high margin item;>( Oh well, it keeps ten grand of engine happy, so it's probably disingenuous to gripe. For sure I'll keep the old one as back up! Rick D.

The impeller for my Volvo MD2B in my 40.5

is about $35.But the whole raw water pump is $230 !!!I agree, all these parts are overpriced.

I have a friend with a 4 cyl Yanmar in his Jenneau and the dealer told him to check the automotive store (with impeller in hand) to look for a substitute. He found one for 1/2 the price.Sorry, I don't know the model of the Yanmar.

Wow, really?

You know, when shopping parts for my yanmar, I found as much as 100% difference in prices... lets see, that will be 65 (mark up 200%) prob. find it on the internet for around 35, that would seem more in line. I would keep shopping and stock up with 2 or 3 at the lowest price... its right off the shelf.

Rick, Last summer we spent over $500 for a

water pump shaft and bearing on a small Yanmar farm tractor. I could comfortably hold both in one hand. You have heard the expression "go figure". Well, there's no calculator that can figure those prices.Ray

NAPA

I have been able to get Yanmar parts at NAPA(My Hunter dealer actually sent me there since the dealer is 200 mi away) And, the price was right.BTW, I tried several other auto parts stores and none seemed to have the Yanmar equivilent part.

in Newport Beach. They are the West Coast distributors for Yanmar and are easy to do business with. I get my parts from them.
