Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2 vs. 45

Hi all,
I am looking at a few different boats to upgrade to from my current Hunter 33.5 and I really like the lines of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2. It looks like the last year they made those was about 2003, but then I saw that a boat called the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45 (without the .2) started showing up with 2005-2008 models. There is something else called the DS but the non-DS versions look a lot like the 45.2, with some differences. Sailboatdata.come, which usually covers every model, for some reason doesn't have record of this regular "45" version, only the earlier 45.2. Anyone smart on this class know what the differences are between the 45.2 and the 45?

Thanks,
'Dubs

They are totally different boats. The 45 is a much newer design, beamier with dual wheels. Cockpit on the 45 is HUGE vs the 45.2.

The DS boats are the so-called 'Deck Saloon' models, with the elevated saloon floor and HUGE teardrop shaped windows. Very nice when looking out, kind of an acquired taste when looking at them.

Thanks much Jackdaw. I'm pretty sure the older 45.2 also had dual wheels:

But I think I can see what you are talking about regarding the cockpit.

You are spot on regarding the DS - I am not there yet on the acquired taste aspect.

Also, it looks like the interior layout may have changed some. The older 45.2, and some 45's, seem to have that layout with the galley laid out along the port side, whereas some of the 45's have the layout with the galley to the port outboard of the companionway ladder and the area where the galley was is now additional seating. Anyone have any idea if there was a certain year that swap took place, or are they just different interior options?
Thanks.

Wow, is that hull oil-canning at the lifting strap?

No, he means whether the aft strap is causing indentation in the hull. The boot stripe looks a little wavy to me which could be caused by hull deflection, but I can't see close enough to tell what's really going on.
