Art: We step the mast to our Daysailor while it is still on the trailer. It may not be the recommened method, but it is faster. Be sure that the boat is strapped down to the trailer and I make sure that you don't have another car within 20 feet. We recently saw a Dad step his catamaran in the parking lot and the mast pitched forward into the cab of a pickup truck. Ruined two folks day! Be careful.
