I plan on replacing the original GROCO head that came with my Catalina 36 1987, with the 129.00 Jabsco model. Does anyone know if the bolt holes are in the same place? If not, do you know which one I cna replace it with so I dont have to drill new holes? I hate putting holes in my boat! WIll my job simply be to bold the toilet down ( hopefully to the same holes), and reconnect the intake and output hoses? Thanks.

Why change brands?

Rebecca: Why are you changing models? Isn't 13 years enough time for something to last? Just get another Groco and you have not changes to make. Problem Solved!

New Groco base is different from old...

Your 13 year old Groco head is either the HC or the HE--both obsolete. The current model is the HF. Upgrade kits (new pump assemblies) for the HC & HE required adapters 'cuz they don't fit the old bases...so the bolt holes won't match even if you buy another Groco. However, I don't think that's a criteria for choosing a new toilet, any more than whether it fits the old bracket is a criteria for choosing a new VHF. Designs change...and dealing with old holes in the head sole is a small issue...hardly the same as a hole in the hull. And to answer your last question, replacing a toilet only consists of bolted it down and connecting the hoses. But this might also be a good time to replace all the hoses, especially if they're as old as the head.
