Our new 315 came with the Jabsco Quite Flush freshwater head option. But the labels on the control panel were inscrutable and somewhat sinister looking:

We covered them over with labels that provide more information and the correct sequence for operation:

Offering this as a suggestion to help your befuddled guests.

Yeah, not very intuitive.

So based on your new labels, a 3-step process…

Nope...it actually provides 3 flush options: the ability to bring water in ahead of a flush and hold it--which should always happen ahead of solids (if the water just runs out as fast as it comes in, your joker valve is WAAAY overdue for replacement)....dry flush when appropriate, and the same simultaneous water in, bowl contents out, that a single button flush provides. Learning how to use the 3 option flush panel can significantly reduce the amount of flush water used, increasing the number of flushes a tank can hold.

There's absolutely NO reason to avoid flushing solids along with limited amounts of quick dissolve TP (the cheap stuff that almost dissolves in your hand when it gets wet. What's the point of having a toilet onboard if you can't use it to do more than pee--which you can legally do over the side from the lee rail???

You don't have to spend the money for "marine-rv" TP...any TP that can pass this test can be flushed: tear off a couple of sheets and put 'em in a glass or mason jar full of water. Come back in an hour or two and stir or shake the glass or jar. If the water is milky and all you see is "snow," that TP can be safely flushed in any marine toilet. But if the sheets are still intact or mostly intact, try another brand.
Use it sparingly..."Intermediate" flushing may be necessary.

Always add water to the bowl ahead of solids...if your toilet isn't designed to let you bring in water and hold it, use a cup from the sink. That will leave the bowl clean with a LOT less flushing! And solid waste won't contribute any more odor from the tank than urine only...a tank vent that can allow plenty of air exchange and tank products that work WITH nature instead of poisoning the bacteria needed to break down waste PREVENTS odor from occurring.
