My Jabsco head will not pull in water via the thruhull. I bought the re-build kit and re-built it yesterday, and while I had it all apart in put the input hose in a bucket and opened the thruhull and water came in so it is not clogged.

The head was not pulling in water prior to the re-build (which is why I re-built it). What could be the problem? Does it need to be re-primed? If it a clogged vent? Help?

Look at the top seal plate - if any of the six screws is stripped in the plastic main pump housing, the seal will not seat allowing air to get in - pump will not draw water. You can order the main pump housing. A new pump costs almost as much as a whole new head with bowl and pump.

Or...

I'm guessing that ht he wet/dry cam has failed--a VERY common problem in Jabsco toilets...it hangs in the dry position. Wiggling the lever may free it up temporarily, but only real cure is a new wet/dry cam assembly.

Or a new higher quality toilet.

Yes, one of the screws is stripped. Actually the post inside that the screw connect to snapped off. Could I just replace it with a bolt and seal top and bottom with cauking to get a good seal?

I bet you can just put a bolt through it like you said. If there is a rubber gasket in there you may not have to caulk it. How was the screw sealing?
