Hi all,

I had replaced this raw water pump and set the old one on the shelf for repairs. When we were at the boat last week I found it and decided to get it home for cleaning. I was able to get it apart easy enough and found it to be in pretty good shape. After a little cleaning it looked nice enough to buy replacement parts.

So I got a new seal but needed a hand with the bearings. My neighbor is well acquainted with these since he often works on car engines. On the side of the bearing he found KBC 6202 D and ordered them on-line. When they come in he offered to press them on for me. Seems like a good deal for $20.

Here are the pictures of the clean pump impeller side then bearing side. Nice to have a back-up.

Well replacing the bearings went pretty smooth. We tapped a cold chisel between the bearings and got one off so we could then then remove the snap ring that was between the bearings. Then it was a matter of using a deep socket, several washers, and table vice to press the second one off. The new ones pressed on the same way. A few gentle taps and unit was back inside the pump housing.

We removed the rubber washer on the old bearings and both had little grease left and the worst one had plenty of rust to seize it up. I guess I'll pay more attention to that weep hole.
