Hi there every one again -- We got our boat in the water yesterday -- it only took us from 8 in the morning till 5pm to get it trailers and setup and in -- we had 2 mishaps were the mast came crashing down -- not from to high up but enough to scare us -- I bent the "self mast raising" system pole DOH !! I hope I didnt bend the mast step pin .. it all looks so flimzy ... anyway --- We trailered it about 60 miles along I-5 with our family station wagon -- we got some really really strange looks but the car did the job -- I wasnt 100% confident with it back there but short trips will be fine, better suspesion and shocks will help too .. (check out http://mywebpages.comcast.net/stuartwood/mac/Boat%20001.jpg for proof we really did it) -- we had a group of "younger" blokes come up an tell us they were very impressed that we had the guts to be seen in public with that car :) :) -- So check out a few pics of the boat in the water http://mywebpages.comcast.net/stuartwood/mac/ -- it's of my family and a mate who helps later in the day -- My daughter has Autism (I cant spell) and she's found her spot in the V-Berth with her head poking out :) I really hope she gets alot of enjoyment out of this (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/stuartwood/mac/Boat%20010.jpg) anyway a quick note to let you all know that we've done it -- after banks stuffing us around, title freaking searches, neighbourhood dramas, no place to store it -- no way to tow it ... blah blah blah ,.. the list goes on it was all worth it :) cheers all Stu...

Boat looks great

Love the boat you have there, you have some nice mods on that thing. I especially like the wheel steering you have on her, that's one of the mods I am still looking to do to my 26. Between college classes and work it doesn't leave much time for working on the boat. Hope you have a great time out on the boat! They are fun boats and should give you years of enjoyment.

Lot's of smiles there.....

That's a good looking group there. This should be great family adventures. All the best. Don't worry about the mast pin, it's the shouds and stays that will keep it in place. Take your time and double check all your work. Be safe, work out a system of knowing everything is set before you leave the dock. Don't rush to get out or to a destination. Powerboats can take you to a destination, Sailing is the destination.

If jealousy is a form of flattery - congrats!

I really want to get mine in the water. Of course IO still have to learn how to sail it.

Lookin good!

Congratulations Stu!! The boat & crew look great! For the mast raising system, there should be a set of stays (baby stays) that attach to the mast and the deck. These stays prevent sideways movement of the mast. The mast raising system can be damaged and bent if the baby stays are not attached while the mast is raised. I take these stays off after I've raised the mast on my boat (1995 Mac 26S - Brigadoon). I wasn't able to tell from your pictures if you have the deck mount brackets for the baby stays. I am sure there is documentation and pictures of what I'm talking about somewhere in the manual. If I have a couple of people to help me raise the mast by hand, I don't use the mast raising system - the mast isn't too heavy. Here's wishing you and your crew many happy adventures, and your kind of wind. Bruce

Good looking boat, Stu

Wow, and your wife is even smiling! With my wife, it was "What did you buy now?" Getting the boat set-up to sail becomes easier and faster the more you do it. You'll have it mastered before long and really start getting enjoyment out of your boat.

Thanks all for the encouragment :)

Thanks every one for the responses -- great to know there are some nice people out there in this world :) -- 73mensailed I figured it was you as the message said it was from Scottsdale AZ :) -- Bruce thanks for the info .. I've now found the little side stays and the S hooks to hook them to some horseshoe brackets on the deck on each side ... next mast raising will be a better experience I think -- she's going to be in the water for a little while now but definately will be more preparednext time -- I do have to pull it out of the water soon though as my knot meter was stuck up with weed and forgot to wiggle it loose before putting it in the water with all the dramas that took place -- anyway I'll shut up now -- I do have lots of questions as I'm discovering new things every time I visit the boat (I sat on it in the dock for 4 hours last nigt) :) but will wait for another time for those questions so you dont get sick of my name ... cheers all Stu... P.S. Oh yeah and my wife is definately smiling she's just as exited about this as me -- even my son has a new lease of life in him --- you could say this boat is becoming a "marriage" saver, with out going into any great detail ... I'm hopng that it will continue to be :)
