I recently aquired an 21' Aquarius sail boat and I know nothing about it. The swing keel in particular...how does it work? I cannot find a crank or any thing that lowers/raises it. I would love any info that will help me learn about this sweet little ship, that, after some TLC, will bear me and my family on many a new adventure.

swing keel .,are you sure?

I have an aquarius ., the keel can be lower in the cabin in the center of the boat there should be a crank mounted on a center panel .,when not in use the crank handle is stored away., I could give you more details .,but would have to know the layout of the cabin. Mine has to side birth like a 'T' with only one side like an L facing the other way., it is a great boat very very stable and easy to navigate and perfect overniter., allthough it does acommodate 4 best with 3 and that makes it very comfy for a wkend sail.Enjoy any questions .,I will try to answer. guy

definetly an Aquarius

Thanks for your prompt reply, I have been cleaning repairing and taking stock of my boat...a long process to say the least. The layout has the keel coming up in the center of the ship with a galley(stove/storage & sink) to the port side of the fiberglass casing of the keel. No crank is visible. there is a bench running the length of the starbord side butting up against a higher sleeper in the bow. Closer to the sleeper in the bow, and butting up against the kitchenette, is a head with a remoovable cover for more room in the bow sleeper. There is a raisable/lowerable table top that extends the kitchenette counter top by way of hinges, when not in use it covers half of the casing covering the keel. Could the keel be automatic?? When in the water it lowers and when on the trailer it slides neatly back into the housing or is that too much to hope for?
