I had a new North Sail made for my old San Juan, it was "assembled" in Arizona, had a new Neil Pryde sail made this year for my 351, it was made closer to home in Ontario, Canada.
This has become very common for North now. To help support the local lofts, they offer design+cut services, where dacron panels are sent as a kit to the local loft for sewing and finishing.

Long gone are the days when something was wholly made in the USA. The days when a product was made in any country from the resources in that country, with labor in that country, with distribution networks in that country are gone. There may be niche markets where this doesn't hold true, however, for most things and most larger companies everything is global. Isn't that what capitalism is about? Finding the lowest cost and highest profit regardless of nationalistic loyalties?

Terry I’m glad you got great service, but it can come from other countries. Given the choice of two quality products and comparable support after sales, I’ll choose the one with the best bang for the buck - which is not always made in the USA. Good quality is good quality and great service is rare in both US and foreign companies.

BTW - just trying to justify to myself buying a Russian knockoff of a German product - but couldn’t bring myself to get the Chinese Knockoff of same part because lack of service after sales in Chinese part ( Planar 44D heater)

Thanks, Les. Their literature claims the fender is Made in the USA. Hope so, but sure hard to beat a life time guarantee, regardless.

My sails are kits from Sailrite, sewn by an amateur sail maker friend in Vegas. Jeff at Sailrite had them made to my specs, after several emails and phone calls

When I was building boats, had four sails for customer boats from them, sewed by same friend Sadly he has stopped sailing and has become a commercial pilot

My sails are Doyle, and they were made in the Marblehead and Salem lofts. They do make some productions sails overseas, but they are upfront about it - lower prices
