isomat mast gate

The mast gate on my isomat spar is about 10 inches above the boom. Has anyone tried moving it so that the top of the slugs when they are stacked up aren't so high on the mast.

Or has anyone been able to set or change the gate so that the slugs pass freely past it?

Thanks, Gareth

You may install a plate to close the gate and allow the slugs to pass through without coming out. The plate would have to be made from a small piece of aluminum with holes for screws at the ends. Two small holes would need to be drilled at the mast for self tapping screws to hold the plate in place. Try using aluminum to prevent dissimilar metals corrosion.

Remove stop screw, slide as many slides as will fit below slot, replace stop screw, insert snug fit dowel of appropriate size in slot opening, snug fit stop screw down on dowel top, drop down remaining slides to the stop and your done! Chief

Are you suggesting to fill the slot completely? This is basically what the gate does. I want the slugs to be able to move freely past the gate without coming out of the slot.

Thanks for taking the time!

No, the dowel just blocks the gate opening to keep the bottom sliders in below the slot after you get the bottom slot full of sliders. Select a dowel that slides in the slider slot and if the slots not round then make a flat back wood unit! Chief

Going to try to revive this thread a bit. Has anyone put together a gate on an isomat mast that lets the slugs pass down before the gate and back up past the gate when the sail is raised?

Thanks

Gareth
