I have an isolation transformer on my 2008 Hunter 31, and it seems to be running quite hot. Everything is working well, but I'm concerned. Does anyone have any ideas as to how hot they are under normal operation conditions, or what might cause them to run too hot?

Remove the load turn everything off but leave power going to transformer if still hot it's bad primary coil if cools off it's load what you using in boat too high or secondary coil. There is a circuit breaker after dock power before transformer yes? Those transformers only necessary to clean dock power up really not needed if you have clean power

Thanks. It must be a coil, because it gets hot without the AC, or anything else running. I'll have it checked out.

Don't forget that the ISO xfmr isolates your boat from the shore power grounding wire issue. Without the transformer you would need isolation diodes/caps in the green wire. Users manuals for both the Charles ISO guard and pro mariner brands are posted on the MH website. They include troubleshooting info.
