Does anyone on the Chesapeake have a "Mast Mast" climbing system they'd be willing to loan/rent me? I am interested in buying one and I'd like to try one out before making the purchase. I now now need to go up the mast, hence this request. I have a 37' Hunter. If you're out there, let me know. Don dcdon@hotmail.com

up the mast

Don''t know much about Mast mate but just last month I bought a TopClimber from ATN here in Ft.Lauderdale and I am very pleased. Take a look at http://www.atninc.com/topclimber.html. Being close to 70 I was concerned about how physically difficult it is. Piece of cake with the TopClimber. Also when at the mast head you are high enough to work on all the gear easily. Mast head ends up about at chest level. Henry

Mast Mate

I bought a mast mate a year ago and have used it 4 times to install lazy jacks and have been very pleased. I am 70 years old , short and 30 lbs over weight. I ordered mine with the short span between the steps. I think 14 inches. Also get the safety harness. I WOULD NOT go up with out it. The owner is extreemly cooperative. Going past the spreaders is a little tricky, but I am able to hold on while I unhook the safety strap and rehook it over the spreaders. I always have a buddy controling an other halyard that is attached to me as I go up. The top step is two steps opposite each other so you can work with your feet even and you adjust the height before you go up so you are working at chest height. You will have to buy sail slugs that fit the slot in your mast
