Islander 44 Seattle
Hi,

I'm new to the web site.

I am in the process of buying an Islander 44 that needs a total refit. I assume plans were available to those people who bought this boat as a kit boat. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a set of the original instructions or plans?

Along the same lines, the rudder will have to be repaired. Does anyone know the basic construction of this rudder?

I used to own an Islander 30 and did extensive work on that boat but I don't know how much the 44 varies from the 30 in the internal rudder configuration.

Thanks Denise.

I'm aware of this info in sailboatdata.com. I'm hoping to find full size drawings with dimensions or at least scalable reference lines so I can properly size the new cabinetry and other features for the boat back to the original Bill Lapworth design. Something like this had to be available to those people finishing off the kit boats. In general, all the interiors of the kit boats look very much alike so they had to be following a pretty detailed set of plans or drawings.

If you are unable to secure the boat plans you seek and wish to make your own. My Islander 44 is moored in Newport Oregon and has the original teak interior. You are more than welcome to take any measurements or photo's you wish. Hope this will help.

Thanks much for the offer. I would be very interested in coming down to check out your boat and make some measurements. I'm retired so my time is pretty much open and I can schedule to whatever works best for you. Probably this is best to discuss off-line. If you don't mind, please give me a call on my cell phone, 206-898-6988, so we can discuss further.

Thanks again.
