I own a 41' center cockpit Island trader 1984. I was looking for more specs or info.(heigh of masts, wiring diagrams, blue prints, ect.) I was told that the ones with the dragons carved into the bow are trans world versions, which are more rare. Does any one know the difference if any. Also wanted to know what type of wood the masts are made of since I was told that wood rot is common on these vessels.

While rot in the spars is not unheard of on these boats, the much more common areas affected seem to be the decks and cabin sides. Often rigging failures are the result not of the spars failing but of bowsprits giving way when the wood underneath attaching them to the deck has deteriorated.
While the hulls were generally heavily laid up decks, cabin and metal rigging bits (especially chain plates) should be looked at carefully if you plan on doing any long distance cruising.
As for specs and additional info you might want to try posting on one of the cruising forums. Someone there might have a similar boat and have some old documentation that came with it.
