After looking at the posts in response to my question, "How good is this boat?", I am now serious about buying a Hunter 260. I know of a boat built in 1997 advertised for $27,500. This boat does not include a motor, but does include a sailcovers, a bimini, trailer, depth sounder and VHF. The boat is stated as being in excellent condition. The price sounds a bit high to me. What do all of you think? What would be typical asking prices for this boat? (I just missed out on a 1994 model with everything, including 3 stroke outboard, autopilot, Loran C, VHF, GPS for $14,500. Ugh!) Thanks, Don B.

If your looking at a 97 model I believe it would have to be an h26 not a 260. The quoted price seems pretty high to me particularly without a motor. I bought a used 97 h26 this past summer for under $23,000. It included shorepower, depth, 15hp motor (w/electric start), sailcovers, canvas campertop, roller furling. Of course these are midwest prices. You'll probably have to lay out $1500 - 2500 for a good motor. I'd offer low 20's and be prepared to walk away...you'll likely get a follow-up call in a few days.

I bought a 1997 26 this Spring for $23,500, included furler, bimini, dodger,elec start 8 hp, shore power, CD, vhf, wheel, depth, sound wind and auto pilot. Boat was in perfect shape. I'd offer $21,500 and prepare to walk. Good luck! If you get it, you'll love it!!

High Priced
If the boat is in Sacramento, I know that boat and the guy has his head in the sky. It started at $29,500. It is a nice boat but get it surveyed, the survey is well worth the $260.00 you probably will pay for it. The story about why it doesn't have a motor changed with each person I talked to, when I was looking for one. If the one you missed out on was in Vacaville, I got that one, sorry. Good luck, it took me awhile to find one on the west coast.

The list price of a 2001 base boat and trailer should be around $27500.00 and remember, Hunter base boats offer a lot of extra (and the five year warranty, this boat only has 2 left)
