I find when I have a lot of people onboard (5+) and if we are sitting at the dock I appear to take much more water then normal from the shaft... is this because the weight in the cock pit? While we were all on board yesterday, I heard my auto bilge came on, then cam on another 10 min later... Is it because the more weight you have in the stern the more pressure and more drops you get from the shaft??? That’s the only thing I can think of... Thank you very much for shedding any light on this... FOB

Is your outlet from your bilge pump

lowered enough to siphon back?

good point

Yes Stu, it is low. it is just above the water line when no one is on the boat, as soon as even one person is on ( in the cockpit), the outlet goes under the water line. Im going to take a look at this to see if this could be the reason. Thank you.

Other things at the water line too...

I didn't see your boat model, but it is possible anonther through the hull opening near your waterline could be producing the ingress of H2O. Like cockpit drains (loose hose connection) or Rudder tube (loose packing). You might take a peek further aft of the drive shaft entrance & see if you have water there. If there is, it might lead you to the source. Good luck!
