Make sure it is not clogged.
Some people have found that theirs leaks.
Easy to take a water hose into the anchor locker, to flush it clean while the v-berth locker covers are removed so you can check for a leak.
The old designs dont have a locker. Which is why the new design rules, and original c22 drools.

It is indeed a leaky design. If you get mystery water in the forwardmost V berth locker, that drain will likely be the culprit. Catalina corrected the problem in '89 or thereabouts, by installing a proper through-hull drain out the side of the hull. I retrofitted ours to that design. It's easily done if need be, and it drains a lot faster with less clogging.

If it's a planing (prefer foiling) multi or monohull you're after, head down to my old sailing 'lake' in Auckland, NZ (ie the Hauraki Gulf and S. Pacific). )That said, I am very happy having a fully restored and upgraded '81 with no anchor locker. Less to leak. More for'ard deck space, and anchor is always available to toss over in an instant if needed. I do prefer the hatch style and position on the 'new style' boats however. Would love to convert mine to a plexiglass hatch for more light down below. And yes, i am a racer, just not as competitive as I once was. But the dream is still alive. Hopefully air travel will be opened up in time to get back for the 'New Zealand Cup' (AC21) next March !!
