Nail in the Coffin:
It could cost $5000 just to get it to a flat, dry place to work on it!

If you take it, it becomes yours and it can cost money or problems to dispose of a boat if you decide to abandon the project

I'm getting ahead here, but if you end up with it, and somewhere down the road decide to bail out, then call the county dump to see if they accept a boat hull that size in one piece. Most do, so no need to spend time, effort, and sawzall blades cutting it apart to get the dump to accept it. In fact, you might make that part of your upfront decision.

@dannoz there are a lot of cheap boats out there. Here is an example of one getting a new life
Keep looking until you find one that strikes a chord with you. It will be a lot more work than you think but also a lot more rewarding than you can imagine if you see it through.

That looks like a fun project! The boat needs you! ....And it will cost more than you think...as EVERY boat does but isn't that what it's all about?
