Mate, it is just a little dirty, but is floating well. It really looks like nobody has been aboard in years so leaving a note might not yield any quick results. The boat has its registration numbers on the bow, check with the DMV.
Our DMV, the DOR, will not give information out.
There is a house up the hill that appears to have work being done on it, game plan is to leave a note on boat and front door.
I've left notes on boats for years, and ended up with several for free or cheap. The story is usually "well it was my dad's, and he can't sail anymore and we don't want it" or "it came with the house"
It's often amazing as to how long it takes for the note too be found. I had a call last week from a note I left almost 2 ago. Unfortunately it was too late on that one, the rot and decay had killed it.
If this one has a good deck, she's a solid candidate for clean up and restoration.
I attached a pic of my catalina 25, she was the result of leaving a note. She looked nearly as bad as the hunter when I got her.
