I'm thinking of buying a 1983 Hunter 34. Have any of you owners of H34s installed one in those very small head compartments?

I don't have the dimensions of the space in the head, but I suspect you'd need a shoehorn and some lube to get one in .. The step in the floor might present a problem.. I've attached a picture of the space.. you can get some rough dimensions by scaling off the picture (after looking at Jabsco's dimensions) .Head and plumbing 1.JPG

Remember - all the plumbing to the right of the throne will go away alone with the holding tank etc. That will be a crap load of space.

Did you install a composting head? I'm considering one too.

I installed a C-Head in my H27 last year. It was tight but does work. So nice to get rid of all the hoses and plug up the holding tank. I used a version of the C-Head that is designed for installing in a corner.

C-Head has a shorty model that should be ok for your fiancee. It is 15" tall compared to 13" for the basic Jabsco head. As you can see in the pic of my install, the right leg is elevated more than the left. I don't find it a problem, but one could build a small stool to even things up.
