Tim, if you use "teak" as a search argument in "Forum Archives" you will probably get information overload. The owners here have vast experience. I sometimes start at the Sailnet web-site(www.sailnet.com) because Don Casey writes there. He's the author of several books on all aspects of boat maintenance. Or go to amazon.com and buy his books. My teak was lightly sanded and covered with seven coats of varnish by a previous owner. If you like that shiny look(I don't) it has held up beautifully for more than three years.
