You may have gas bubbles in your joints from the anesthesia. Drinking lots of lukewarm water may help to absorb the extra gas. jorgen mcgregor owner soon to be albin owner?

Hello Vega owners!
Is there a doctor among us? I need help- if you know anything
about what I'm writing- please answer to vega257@...
I had an operation Thursday Feb. 13th. (removal of a tumor from
the bladder). I don't know what anesthesia agent I received- but
I was asleep during the procedure. I did, however, receive through
the IV GENTAMICIN and FLAGYL. (I have a history of
endocarditis)
I was sent home- and I was supposed to take CIPRO 500 mg,
but about 10 hours after arriving home I started to experience pain in
all my muscles and joints. The next morning, Friday Feb. 14th, the pain
was excruciating, and I also experienced pain in my kidneys. I called the
surgeon who advised me to stop taking CIPRO.
Today is Saturday, Feb. 15th. I can't walk- I'm in incredible pain! I plan
to call my doctor again. But I'm asking a fellow physician- do you know
of an antidote or anything else that would help me? I'm scarred to death!

Wilhelm, I'm not a doc but I do work as an ER RN. Sounds like it could be
the Cipro. Not a common side effect but joint pain is listed as a possible
side effect. Have you ever had a problem with gout? (Gout involves crystal
formation in tissue.) Cipro can cause it to flare up. Cipro is known to form
crystals also. Cipro can also cause crystal formation in the urinary tract.
Has your surgeon prscribed any other medication? Colchcine is frequently
prescribed for gout and might be helpful. If your problem continues you
should see anoother doctor. Did you have an alcoholic beverage after you got
home? Flagyl and alcohol have severe side effects when taken with in 72
hours of each other. I can't recall ever having heard of symptoms like yours

Glad back in one or two pieces. Just been making some bits for my brother's
Vega that seems to be taking all my time. He was supposed to do it but got an
offer of work (Satellite man) which he took in December, only problem is that
the job is in Kuwait!! I hope to see him soon but he's been there nearly
three
mopnths now! I hope he is getting danger money.
I hope to be going to Florida sometime this half of the year and I will
certainly call on your services so I need you to get better quickly...

It's great to hear you are well and making a comeback. It's absolutely unconscionable you were sent home by the hospital. In these cases sometimes it's the hospital and not the care giver. The physicians and nurses seem to be the jam in the sandwich of our health care system in the US. I am suprised you were not readamitted immediately and regret your suffering. town of Kelowna --south middle 80 miles north of 49 parallel-380 km east of Vancouver and salt water. Our hospitals just keep spending as if there is no tomorrow. We have a 120 km long lake--Lake Okanagan good for boating. jorgen
Brian--no not yet--I use a 26X 1995 Mcgregor but my wife does not like sailing so I may buy an aluminum 20' runabout for lake and rivers until I retire-4 years-then an Albin 27 or 30 for the ocean. I want to sail Vancouver to Prince Rupert several summers in a row--no schedule--just stop here and there--always fishing and when at anchor prawn trap/crab trap over the side. I will always have a baited hook over the side for supper. I am a spontaneous type --do what comes to the head and make a new day/new adventure. I have an adventure planned also--float down the Peace River from Fort Saint John to Fort Vermillion-end of road--maybe in the 20' boat. Then there are the rivers in Alberta that look interesting. I read a book about a fellow that sailed across North America in a number of home made wooden things. I have to have a boat capable of carrying enough beer. We would camp on the islands along the way with camp fire each night. I was hoping to go all the way to the Arctic but there is some rough water that we have to portage--but doable. More research.
I have enjoyed the Mcgregor very much as it is an easy boat to look after and very forgiving when sailing. I had a sudden storm on the lake with children along-4-5' waves and stiff wind from the south. I pulled the sails down and motored gently home--she does the rough water well. -When you reach 56 years you realize that the adventures that you dream about must be started soon or they will not happen .
I worked 14 years at Hiram Walkers Distillery in Winfield as a steam engineer/maintenance engineer--best place to work. .Many here sail from March to late October. Our last trip was Westbank(where I lay at the club) to Penticton late October--good wind my friend had gps and we did 11km/hr with just the jib up with beautiful blue sky and stars at night. This is what many people are missing. I have found quite an interest in drifting rivers from reading books about early settlers. So many things to do and so little time. I am at Kelowna General Hospital now work 4X12hrs and 6 days off. Lots of time for the boat. jorgen..
