Seaworthy and how, considering
Hi Doug, I've had my '96 26X out in a lot of stuff and have always felt safe and it has always brought me back without trouble from the boat. I crossed the Pamlico Sound at the coast of NC, a 46 mi trip, during a small craft advisory. The trip was 12 hours beating in to the wind and motoring at up to 12 kts. The wind was 20+ kts coming straight from where we were headed and the seas were 6 to 8 ft with about a 25 to 30 ft fetch. We sure were tired and ready for a good meal when we got there, but the boat gave us no problems. I also got caught out on a lake with about 70 MPH winds according to the weather report. The boat healed over hard and rounded in to the wind. We got the boat under power and dropped the sails in a few minutes time and powered back to the launch ramp. The boat took on no water to the cockpit or cabin and stood right back up (from a 65 deg. heal) when it came in to the wind. There are some better boats out there, but the 26X is tough to beat for the money and versatile too. I'm selling mine now for some personal reasons, but I sure have had a lot of fun with it.Best of Luck,Joe C. in NC
