Is metal bar with loops 3 ft long the H260 gin pole?

Just got a Hunter 260 which I always want

ed, found metal bar 3ft x 2inches with some welded on loops. It's too big to fit in mast gin pole hole, but might it be half of a gin pole that came with boat?? See pic. I also found half section of PVC pipe, is that for mast to rest on somehow?? Happy Autumn, hi heat broke this week in Houston!!! -- D

That is definitely not part of your gin pole

That is your emergency steer mechanism. Do you have wheel steering? The loops are to allow you to attach lines to give you more control as control is very heavy with that short a steering arm. Full instructions are in the owners manual.

Half section of pvc pipe is likely to support the lower section of the roller furler along the mast when it is in the lowered position on a trailer.

@twalker H260 advised you correctly on all three accounts particularly on the mast raising system I designed. Do you have wheel steering?
