No! No! Nice N Easy

She has a list for Home (which required me this morning to pickup 25 bags of mulch before we goto the boat). And a list for the boat. I'm not sure which list is longer - she won't let me look at it - she just dictates what is next *yks.

yes, it's just you

JK---welcome to the world of boats-the never ending joy of preventive, routine, and unexpected repair work coupled with a weekend on the water every six weeks or so....gotta love it or leave it. Now, for the non-sarcastic answer: A boat should be approached as any other project, only the project has no end date. All preventive and routine work should be listed, broken down by how often-weekly (yuk!),monthly, etc. and then stick to it or you will soon feel overwhelmed by your backlog.

Actaully two lists

I actually keep two lists. One is a no sh!t "need to do" list. It has an "auto-fill mode". It actually breathes by itself. Big then small.. then big again. For instance it added an entry just the other day after sailing back from Mission Bay. I noticed a bit of salt residue under the engine during post flight. A quick inspection revealed the raw water line from pump to heat exchanger feeling soft and leaking. Oh and this list always carries a balance. Usually in red ink. The other list is the "to do" list. New spin halyard, new port side stantion. I can actually control this list somewhat. Mostly by ignoring it because the boat isnt about to sink :) "Ya got to really love being a boat owner to be a boat owner." Cheers

I've owned my h23 since Dec. 1986 - that's why I know the to-do list is never done. Jim Kolstoe, h23 Kara's Boo

Well... it could be you.

however... if it was you... and you didn't do anything... you woald have 10 times the amount on your list as you do now. However... if it wasn't you... you would have no list... your boat would be a piece of cr*p. You would be fixing only things of necessity to go sailing... or trying to get back in. Besides... if you didn't work on the boat... you would be working on the house! I have a to do list for the boat. I do not have a to do list for the house. My house is a piece of cr*p. Keep up the good work.

you own...

You own a boat, therefore, the "to do" list NEVER ends......!!!! Even when I owned a BRAND NEW boat the to do list was still very, very long.... My to do list for the next week or so includes the following: 1) Remove remaining 4 old Beckson ports and install New Found Metals ports (about 4 hours per port). 2) Paint bottom 3) Clean prop & shaft and install zincs 4) Install new interior cushions 5) Install re-finished cabin sole 6) clean then wax hull with AwlCare 7) Re-plumb macerator and install new thru-hull and seacock. 8) Remove winter cover 9) finish buffing ares of the deck
