I am the owner of a Barefoot 37 which was built by Ted Irwin in 1980 to custom specs from an Irwin 37 Mk V. The specs were prepared by Stephen A. Lang of Yacht Charter Systems Ltd. The boat is in excellent condition after having been constantly upgraded during the last 12 years, and was about to get a drip-less packing addition on an inch and one eighth shaft, when I realized I didn't have the shaft log size to properly order the fitting. What I call the shaft-log is the male pipe like fitting that that comes into the boat from the shaft alley, and onto which the rubber bellows (or hose) between the packing gland and the shaft log, is attached with hoseclamps. Quest is presently in dry storage in Mexico and is not readily available to determine what the shaft log size is, and the specs I have do not address it. I can only presume that it was the standard shaft log used by Irwin for the 37 Mk V when the boat was built. If you have any information on the shaft log size I would be happy to have it.
