I'm getting a iPad 2 for Christmas, looking for suggestions on the best GPS chartplotter app out there. (Great Lakes area)

I use Navionics. My chartploter is a Raymarine and I can sync my routes and waypoints between the both of them. Besides, Navionics is cheep and you get great maps. I just bought the version for Caribean and South America and it cost me around 45 US.

I also use Navionics but also use EarthNC and eSeaChart for Active Captain integration. what Raymarine model do you have that give you integration? I have the RL70C, much older model.

The Navionics app is very nice, and has super Great Lakes maps, but it is NOT a chartplotter. To a large degree it just draws your location on a map. True chartplotter features, like 5-minute course line, anchor alarms, 3d views, ETA, course-up view, smart navigation over digital charts, etc are all missing. Reason is simple; they do not want to compete with the very companies (like Raymarine) that they sell their maps to.

Ten bucks, and the reviews are not very good as of late. People complaining it locks up.
