Anybody using 1000 watts or larger stapower/Vector inverter to run a microwave, tv and coffee maker? Good or bad experiences? Thanks, Nelson

Experience with 1000w Vector inverter

I use the inverter to power all small ac tools, laptop, various and sundry chargers, and small (650w) microwave. The inverter output is separate from and cannot be hooked into the boat ac but it rather has 3 stand alone ac outlets on the inverter box, so mount the inverter so that it is as handy as possible for the intended ac uses. Also, follow the manufacturer's instruction on 12v cable sizing and fusing. A too small or too long 12 v run will reduce the input voltage and thus output. Still, a cheap solution to ac on a boat and as far as my experience is concerned, a completely satisfactory one. If I had any regret in installing the Vector inverter it would be that I didn't install a 1500 W which would then perhaps allow a very small one or two gallon water heater. Efficiency for this inverter is about 90 percent and standby energy I believe is only about .4amp. The inverter does have a low batter cut off but by the time it cuts off you would have a really drained battery bank. I think I paid about 140 for the Vector 1000 w inverter.

Good So Far

Hi, Nelson. We have the Heart Interface 1000 watt inverter, and it has worked great so far. We use it for a microwave, variety of small power tools. coffee grinder, and portable PC. It also works well "in reverse" as a battery charger on the rare occasions that we are hooked up to shore power. Excellent experience so far. Car and Jule s/v 'Syzygy'

Did you used it with a TV?

Thanks Terry, for the information. I was worried about the wires and how to install the inverter and you answer my question on that. I am wondering if it has a negative effect on the TV? Nelson

I had the Heart 1000 watt also..

and it had no ill effects on the TV. We used the inverter to operate a coffee maker, microwave, hairdryer, TV, VCR (NOT all at the same time!!)without any problems.
