We got a problem with our inverter control panel that doesn't light up. My husband tried to reset it and got some blinking light but it was it. We have no way to tell if there is a problem with the panel or inverter itself. Can anyone recommend ways to troubleshoot this problem or what it can be?

What kind of inverter?
Without knowing, impossible to make any intelligent guesses.
Also, check the internet. Most common mfgs have their op manuals online which typically includes a troubleshooting section, e.g., what to do if the lights blink, etc...

As Don said

Without more specifics, such and make, is hard to make any kind of judgment. With that being said, the most common thing I can think of is low voltage from the battery, for whatever reason. My Xantrex will shut down and beep when battery is below 80%.

It would help if you said what make/model inverter you had to start with. Basic information like what make and model of equipment you're having trouble with should generally be provided, since specific makes/models may have specific issues that are known for them. It would also help if you said what else you've done to check the rest of the electrical system on the boat out. For instance:

Have you checked the wiring to make sure that all the connections to the inverter are properly made and showing little or no resistance?

Have you checked the fuses or circuit breakers that are related to the inverter?

Have you checked to see if the inverter has been exposed to water damage or not?

Have you checked to see what the status of your batteries are? Are they fully charged? Are they topped off with water (if wet cell)? Are they putting out the proper voltage (12.6-12.7 for fully charged 12 VDC lead-acid batteries)?
