I am retiring (for the second time) on April 30, 2011. I plan on heading down the ICW from Deal, MD, to Brunswick, GA. My trip south will coincide with my grandchildren's summer vacation, early June. Most people seem to go south in the fall and north in the spring. What are the disadvantages, if any, of heading south in June.

If you need a stopping off point as you approach the Pamlico Sound area let me know. I'm a couple miles west of the ICW as it crosses the Pamlico River. Have room at the dock or nice anchorage in front of the house.
