My wife and I have a Pearson 422 ( SCHARDO ). We are presently at Dinner Key Marina in Miami. In November we plan to sail south with a final destination in Trinidad by April. I must stay in contact with New York for business. In Florida I use a Mobile phone and a mobile phone to get on the Internet. Are there many Internet Cafes in the Caribbean? Are there any services that you could recommend? Thanks for your help. Bill & Lorraine Schramm aboard SCHARDO wschramm@schardo.com 917-450-4987

Trinidad has good internet places.

We recently returned from 17 months in the Bahamas and Caribbean. We were able to find internet places on most islands. The prices varied from a high of $5 for 10 minutes in the BVI's to about $7 an hour in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. It was less than $2 per hour in Porlamar, Isla Margarita, Venezuela. Most of the places had acceptable speeds and the price ran about $5 for 15 to 30 minutes. Trinidad had several places in and around the marinas. We also used libraries on St. John and St. Eustatius. We found good places in Nassau, Luperon-DR, St. Thomas, Simpson Bay-St. Maarten,, St. Barts, Antigua, Pointe a Pitre-Guadaloupe, Dominica, Marin-Martinique, Rodney Bay-St. Lucia, Bequia, Clifton-Union Island, Prickly Bay-Grenada. Terribly slow service at the yacht club in Tyrell Bay, Carriacou and expensive service in George Town, Bahamas.
