I have a 1982 Hunter 27' with a tall rig mast. Because of the internal halyards and electrical wiring, checking or repairing the wiring requires unstepping the mast.(The connection plug is located internally) Locals advise to reposition the wiring plug out side of mast and through deck. Others suggest cutting hole in mast for access. I really hesitate doing any of these options. I do not want to scarifice the integrity and strength of the mast or open up a hole in the deck. I'm pretty sure the root of problem is at the plug as I did check and repair all connections with successful testing before mast went up. Anyone have suggestions or advice on this topic? Yard charges for stepping and unstepping each time. Thanks
