Spring weather means that work has (re)started on my boat Cassidy. There are many many projects going concurrently, and I haven't had time to update the blog (linked), but I will very soon. On to my question, has anyone run their halyards internally on a 22, or similar boat? I am rebedding the deck and would like to add an organizer plate underneath the mast step if running the lines inside the mast is possible. I am not close to Cassidy right now, but the pics Rudy has of the masthead show it as completely enclosed. If I remeber correctly there are 4 sheaves and each halyard runs over the top of two of the sheaves. My plan would be to run each halyard over only one sheave and use one of the free sheaves for a topping lift. I am concerned about two things: 1) will running the halyards over only 1 sheave be inadequately strong? 2) must holes be drilled inside the masthead in order to get the lines inside? Also, the cables for the mast lights run inside and are set in foam right now. Obviously these would have to be freed to complete the project, but how would you recommend resetting them so that they don't slap around annoyingly, without interfering with the halyards?
