Interior

Sometime ago there were some interior pictures of a fairly total
rebuid, I think it may have been the Lorna Doone. I also recall a
detailed description of re-doing the forward cabin sides in wood
lath, which looked outstanding. I believe the pictures were posted
in the photo section on this site. Does anyone know what happened to
the file on the interior as well as the forward cabin? If someone
has the files and doesn't want to re-post them because of space
considerations, perhaps they can just be sent to my e-mail address.

Thanks,

Hi Hans

yes Lorna Doone had the wood slats in the forward and main cabin. they look
really nice. If no one else has them then there are some photos in one of the
VAGB Newsletters but the article came from the American news articles.

Hans,

The material you refer to, I believe, appeared in "Fair Winds" issues No. 6 (Detail of Oak Slat ceiling in the fore cabin of Lealea V1860) and No. 8, ("Sisterships" feature on Lorna Doone V1517). Lorna Doone also has the lath type ceiling in the foreward cabin, though a slightly different approach was taken using mahohgany slats a bit thicker and wider than the white oak used in Lealea. Both are beautiful and functional but I prefer the lighter color of the oak (Surprise!).

I don't have the files on this computer so I'll try to remember to bring them to work with me tomorrow so I can post them to the group for you. I'll post the narrative from the Lealea feature as well.

Aloha,

Chuck

OK Hans and anyone else that may be interested; I have posted the
photos of Lora Doone's interior, the ones Laura took at the
VEGAtarian's Rendezvous at Pender Island in 2001, along with the
detail photos of the ceiling installation in Lealea's forepeak. I
posted them in the "Dinette Conversion" album in the Photos
section. I put them there because they are all relevent to interior
modifications.

Aloha,

Chuck
