The interior woodwork in my 1996 29.5 has faded from the sun. Does anyone know the particular stain that Hunter used? Also any recommendations for curtains/shades for the light ports.

Tung Oil

Just wipe some on a couple of times a year. Smells good and gives your interior a new lease on life.

Profin / Seafin

I'm in the process of refinishing the interior and exterior teak of my just purchased 1989 Hunter 30. According to numerous articles in the archives Hunter uses products from Daly's. Daly's Profin for the sole and Seafin for the rest of the teak. Both products can be ordered directly from Daly's @ 1 (800) 735-7019. I just ordered some last week and the people were very helpful. Good luck.

QUICK AND EASY

HERE IS A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO MAKE THE INTERIOR TEAK LOOK SUPER. STEP 1: USE A SCUFFIE PAD (THAT FAKE STEEL WHOOL PADS) AND GO OVER THE WOOD SURFACE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUB HARD, JUST SCUFF UP THE SURFACE. STEP TWO: I USE A SMALL FOAM BRUSH TO PUT ON "ANTIQUE OIL FINISH" BY MINWAX. COMES IN A RED QUART CONTAINER. STEP THREE: I LET IT SET IN FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND THEN WHEN IT IS "TACKY" I WIPED THE SURFACE WITH A DRY COTTON RAG TO "SMOOTH OUT THE SURFACE". THE FINISH IS SUPER AND BRINGS OUT THE NATURAL COLOR OF THE WOOD. I USED IT ON MY KITCHEN CABINETS ALSO. I ALSO DID THE TEAK SOLE IN THE BOAT WITH THIS STUFF. IT REALLY PROTECTS THE SURFACE AREA WELL FROM FUTURE SUN BLEACHING. SURFACE AREAS THAT TAKE GREAT WEAR (AROUND THE KITCHEN AND THE CHART TABLE WERE GIVEN THREE COATS). HAVE FUN.

varnish

i keep my boat wet year round, so in the winter months i have plenty of time to do interior work..a couple of years ago, tired of oiling,i took the plunge and varnishrd the interior of my 28.5..i really cheated, just a little sanding and i mean a little, pulled out the brush and stoked on a nice high gloss finish...put on two coats..still looks better than any oil finish i ever had..if i was to do it again i would use a water base varnish such as j e moser,s marineshield..dries in an hour and ready to re-coat
