The Admiral wants to know what kind of wood is used in the 2004 H36 cabin? What do you use to clean and polish it without making it dark? What about the cabin sole? It looks like a laminate.
almost all the wood is teak. The cabin soles are teak plywood. There are many options for "finishing" teak. Oil, varnish, polyurethane or just keep it clean with water and scrub brush. Oil, varnish and water all have the problem of you have to keep doing it. I am fond of a marine grade (uv proof) polyurethane.
My 2007 H-36 is a Laminate and we just a mild soap or bleach mix and water and I think we used a floor cleaning from HD.
We did not want to make it slippery,it's not real wood.

I have a 2004 H36. Is your sole starting to separate? We keep our cabin dark when not on board. We have had all ports and hataches covered since we bought the boat in 2005 and the teak color is still light.
Do you mean the laminate is coming unglued,I keep most hatches and windows
covered here in Hot Sunny Florida and my flooring looks the same since new.

Light will probably not cause de-lamination. Water will. Light will bleach out your wood though..... so if you are trying to keep it from getting dark......let the light in.
Murphy's oil soap works great on my teak veneered cabin sole, salon table, bulkheads, and fiberglass surfaces. It did an amazing job of removing yellowish stains on fiberglass that, I suspect, were nicotine based from a PO who was a smoker.
