Hello all,

Long winter, but alas time to get her cleaned up and on the water soon. I have an Oday 26, and most of the interior is a teak panel, and it is in very good condition. I don't want to seal it so it has that shiny laminated look, right now it is a dullish color and I would like to keep that look.

However there a few high use area's that could use a bit of scrubbing black marks etc, and i am thinking to do an overall wipe down of some sort.

But, i don't know what to use to do that, Murphy's soap cleaner, or something else, light detergent?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Murphy's is pretty mild soap and shouldn't hurt your teak. It's probably better for the interior than some harsh teak cleaners that will change the color. Using a simple lemon oil or teak oil will feed the wood and not change the appearance.

nightowle, thanks for the tip, I use Murphy's all the time at home, so it was my thinking, but was not sure. I guess teak as about the same as any wood save a bit more oily.

The other issue I want to resolve is the cubby area's are whatever they are called, the under the bench area's with the little trap doors. Seems to be an odor emanating form under those area's and i think maybe a charcoal sack of some sort to absorb that?

The bilge on the 26 is minimul and clean as a whistle, but there are crevices that are clean, but I smell musty smells in there. Granted she has been buttoned up for the winter, but I had all hatches open all winter and tarps loosely wrapped so there is air flow.

So, any thoughts on absorbing those type of odors?
