I need to replace the storage compartment cover that you step on to enter the cabin, that sits below the crank for the swing keel. Looking for input from anyone who has done it. Is this available to order from anywhere, or do I have to cut one myself -- and if I'm cutting it, any recommendations for what to use? Here is a pic of what the previous owner did to it - this has to go. Thanks in advance!

When I refinished my interior teak, the step cover turned out so nice that I didn't want to start using it and scratching it up, so I just used it as a pattern and cut another out of 1/2" MDF. I rounded over the bottom edges and the finger pull hole with my router, gave it a couple of coats of PU varnish to seal it, and then cut a piece of leftover berber carpet to fit the top and match the piece that I have in the cabin sole. The carpet is attached with two-sided carpet tape, which makes it easy to remove for cleaning.

End result, we have a very non-skid matching step that cost nothing and when I want the boat to look her best, I can swap in the varnished teak.
