Anyone have recommendations for a company to make replacement interior cushion covers on my 29.5? Any suggestions on material to use and where to find it?

Cushion foam cleaned AND reupholstered?

The 20+ year old fabric is tired, worn and outdated; worse, the foam has 20+ years of accumulated odors which severly limits the 'Fun Factor' for Momma. Every married guy knows the unwritten rule: "if Momma ain't happy..." etc. So, in addition to Jim's request for a fabric source (other than Sunbrella, which is ever present), has anyone had success thoroughly cleaning and de-odorizing cushion foam? It would certainly soften the cost of the overall project to re-use the existing cushions. If yes, how'dyoudoit?

Bad News

Took mine to a professional upholstery cleaner and was not impressed with results. Let them sit in direct sunlight for days which helped but ended up using the old cushions for a pattern when I made new ones myself

'Bad News',,,is still news

Tried that technique last April, hoping it'd work or at least get beneath Momma's radar. Perhaps they muted the upholstery's olfactory volume but the foam continues to speak loudly. Guess they'll serve a purpose as patterns for the next generation of cushions!. Now the question is deciding between 'closed cell' Vs 'open cell'(all for interior berth purposes)...

Upholstery Fabric

Look at Automotive upholstery fabrics. They wear like iron, are water resistant, uv protected, and stain resistant. They are also more comfortable than sunbrella or vinyl when used down below. As for cleaning the foam try Simple Solution or Natures Miracle. They are designed for cleaning up pet accidents but do a phenomonal job of deodorizing foam. My first mate swears by them. We just had our cushions recovered and I was going to throw out the foam but my wife convinced me to try the products above. Saved a bunch of money and eliminated the odors.

Contact US Yacht Cushions - the

OEM supplier for my H23. I don't know if they supplied Hunter for your 29.5 but Hunter should be able to tell you. Anyway -- USYC sent a nice sample card with all the fabrics they offer. VERY good prices compared to local shops here in Peoria. $331 for covers only (OEM fabric)!!!

US Yacht Cushions

Jim: Here is a sample of the work that US Yacht Cushions can do. This fabric is a interior Sunbrella product. http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=73237680334&fno=17 This was a custom job (not the same as the factory cushions). We spent about $200 extra because of the "knees" on the cushions. Bob and Marci are great to work with.
